Our transitional housing program specifically caters to youth aging out of foster care in Charlotte, North Carolina, between the ages of 18 and 23. This demographic faces significant challenges, including homelessness, unemployment and limited access to education and healthcare. Our program focuses on serving this vulnerable population, providing them with a supportive environment to transition into independence. The youth we serve have experienced foster care and are now navigating adulthood without permanent family support.
Our target demographic includes approximately 200-300 youth aging out of foster care annually in Mecklenburg County. This population comprises various ethnicity, including African American, Caucasian, Hispanic and Asian youth. Our program is designed to accommodate diverse needs, providing culturally sensitive services to ensure inclusivity. By serving this demographic, we address disparities in housing stability, education and employment outcomes, ultimately empowering young adults to overcome obstacles and achieve self-sufficiency.
