Who I am

Osman Alee, a resident of Manga Lahore and a student at UCP, shares his inspirational story of determination and ingenuity in the face of financial challenges. Hailing from a middle-class background, he discovered the hardships of life only after completing his intermediate education. He applied to two or three government universities but could not get admission. As he set his sights on private universities, he turned to UCP as his first choice, despite not having anyone in his family to guide him through the challenging financial aspects of higher education.

The Dream of a Scholarship Crushed

Upon visiting UCP, he was offered a glimmer of hope with a 75% scholarship. The prospect of additional need-based scholarship support further fueled his dreams. However, after gaining admission, he was met with a heartbreaking reality: the application window for the need-based scholarship had closed. Disappointed but undeterred, he resolved to make the most of his situation.

The Challenge of Rising Tuition Fees

With his father's monthly income significantly lower than his semester fees, he faced the harsh truth that even affording 1 lakh rupees was a monumental challenge. When his semester results were released, his CGPA of 3.45 meant that his fees increased to 1.5 lakh rupees, intensifying the financial burden.

Summer Break: A Turning Point

During the summer break, he committed to finding a solution. He decided that he would take it upon himself to pay his semester fees. His three-month hiatus became a period of exploration and self-improvement, where he embarked on the journey of learning web development.

A Valuable Connection and New Opportunities

During his journey into web development, he serendipitously met a friend who introduced him to a software house. This connection turned out to be a blessing. He initially had to raise around 80,000 rupees to cover half of his semester fees.

Building Expertise and Opportunity

He dedicated himself to honing his web development skills and, after 45 days, approached the software house with a proposal. With their cooperation, he began working on practice and testing projects. He worked tirelessly day and night, immersing himself in his projects.

The Daunting Deadline Approaches

As the deadline for his semester fee payment loomed, he faced moments of doubt and defeat. He was aware that he couldn't rely on his father to cover the fees. However, he remained steadfast in his determination and looked beyond the immediate challenges.

The Birth of an Innovative Idea

During this period of struggle, he conceived the idea of a book resale platform. Over ten days, he developed a detailed plan for its implementation.

Team Formation and Implementation

He assembled a team, designed the frontend of the website, and received valuable assistance from his teacher, Suheer, who helped install the backend. With a domain in place and hosting issues resolved, his website became a reality. The platform allows students to purchase affordable books, with the unique feature of being able to resell books to the platform. As far as delivery is concerned, he believes that students don't have enough time to wait for delivery for two or three days for cheap books, so he also hired a book distributor at the universities he targeted to ensure speedy book delivery.

The Future: Reselling and Sustainability

As a startup, his team is actively planning the reselling procedures, with the aim of promoting book recycling among students. This initiative holds the promise of helping future generations of scholars.
